Gauchos Primary Logo
Since its founding in 1909, UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) has been known for its strong academic programs and vibrant student life. The university's official mascot is the Gaucho, a proud symbol of UCSB’s spirit and pride. As such, it only makes sense that the school would have an iconic logo to represent itself – enter the UCSB Gauchos Primary Logo!
The original primary logo was designed by Bob Shaffer in 1969 as part of a rebranding effort for UCSB Athletics. It featured a bold black-and-gold shield with two crossed swords at its center along with “Gauchos” written across the top half of the design. This classic look served as one of many visual elements used to promote school spirit among students and fans alike throughout much of the 1970s & 80s until it was replaced by another version in 1992 which more closely resembled today's current design - this time featuring an updated font style plus some subtle color changes from black & gold to navy blue & yellow/gold respectively; both versions remain popular choices when representing Gaucho Pride on apparel or other merchandise items even now!
Over time however certain variations were made including adding additional text below ‘Gauchos' like 'The University Of California', 'Santa Barbara', or even just abbreviations like 'UCSB'. In 2007 yet another update occurred where all text was removed altogether leaving behind only what we know today: A striking combination between two crossed swords inside a traditional shield shape accompanied by alternating blocks colors - Navy Blue on Yellow/Gold making up both background layers while also acting as border lines around each side; thus creating an instantly recognizable image that stands out amongst any crowd no matter where you go!
Whether you're looking back fondly on decades past or simply wanting something modern yet timeless enough to last well into future generations there can be no doubt about it: The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos' primary logo will always be here and stay proudly embodying our beloved University everywhere they go... Go, Gauchos!!
