Hoosiers Primary Logo
The Indiana Hoosiers are one of the most iconic college athletic programs in the United States. Their primary logo has been a part of their identity for over 100 years, and it continues to be a source of pride for fans across Indiana. The history behind this logo is fascinating and full of symbolism that speaks to the roots and traditions associated with this storied program.
The original design was created by Arthur Bohn in 1909 as an emblem for football players at IU Bloomington. It featured two white stripes on either side, representing strength and power, enclosed within a circle that represented unity among team members regardless of background or ability level. Inside the circle was an interlocking “IU” which symbolized loyalty to both school spirit as well as state pride; while outside were five stars signifying each branch in IU's athletics department- basketball, baseball/softball soccer/track & field plus cross country/golf - all working together towards success on game day!
Over time there have been minor changes made to keep up with modern trends but overall its meaning remains intact: teamwork makes champions! From athletes who proudly wear it during the competition (or just around campus) down into living rooms filled with fans watching from home – no matter what form it takes today we can rest assured that its core values will remain true forevermore: Strength through Unity & Loyalty Through School Pride!
