Bulldogs Primary Logo

The Drake Bulldogs have a long and proud history of athletic excellence that dates back to the early 1900s. The school's primary logo has evolved over time, but its core elements remain the same: a bulldog head with a "D" on its collar.

The first iteration of the Drake Bulldogs logo was unveiled in 1909 when it appeared on letterheads and other stationery used by the university’s athletic department. This original design featured a white-and-black bulldog wearing an old English “D” around his neck. It also included two stars above and below him as well as some text reading “Bulldogs Athletic Club – Established 1909."

In 1979, Drake University underwent major changes to its athletics program including revamping the logos for all sports teams at that time. The new version of this classic design incorporated several key elements from its predecessor while adding some modern touches such as colorizing certain parts of it like red highlights in between each star or outlining them completely with blue coloring instead just black lines connecting them together (as seen before). Additionally, there were slight alterations made regarding how large/small certain aspects were drawn out relative to one another which gave off a more balanced overall look & feel compared before making sure no section overshadowed any other part too much visually speaking either way here!

In 2018, after almost 40 years since last updating their primary logo for athletics purposes; Drake decided once again to tweak things up slightly giving us what we see today - A Bulldog head wearing an old English D around his neck along with four stars above & below him respectively plus bolder outlines throughout entire image so everything stands out better than ever before without taking away from traditional style associated previously mentioned earlier points about creating a balance between different sections being important still applies now too even if minor adjustments had been made here there accordingly! All these small details combined make this iconic symbol truly unique representing not only our beloved school but also our rich history spanning generations worth celebrating every day proudly always.
