Flames Primary Logo
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Flames have a long and storied history of athletic excellence, which is reflected in their iconic primary logo. This distinctive logo has been used to represent the university’s athletics program since its inception in 1982 and continues to be an integral part of UIC’s identity today.
The original design for the Flames' primary logo was created by former UIC art director, Stan Kegel. It features a red “UIC” lettering set against a black background with two orange flames emanating from either side. The bold color scheme was chosen to reflect both power and energy while also paying homage to the school's colors: blue, white, black, and orange.
Since its introduction over thirty years ago, this classic design has become synonymous with UIC Athletics as well as one of the college sports' most recognizable logos nationwide. In fact, it remains largely unchanged even after being adopted by NCAA Division I teams across all sports divisions including basketball (men & women), baseball/softball (men & women), soccer (men & women), swimming & diving( men/women ), tennis( men/women ), volleyball( men&women ).
Over time however small modifications have been made such as when Nike redesigned it slightly for use on apparel during their partnership with Uic from 2007-2012. Additionally, more recently there were slight alterations made when Adidas began sponsoring them starting in 2016 which included adding some shading around certain elements within the graphic itself plus making adjustments so that they would look better digitally or on smaller items like hats, etc. Despite these minor changes though overall it still looks much like how Stan Kegel originally designed it back then - showcasing how timeless his work truly is!
In conclusion, whether you are cheering on your favorite team at home games or wearing merchandise featuring this beloved symbol out in public – you can rest assured knowing that no matter what happens throughout time The University Of Illinois At Chicago will always proudly display its iconic Primary Logo representing decades worth of success!
