Golden Bears Primary Logo
The California Golden Bears have had a long and storied history, with their primary logo being no exception. The iconic symbol of the fierce grizzly bear has been associated with the team since its inception in 1915. At that time, it was simply known as “the Bear” and featured an outline of a black bear on top of a gold shield. This original design remained unchanged until 1949 when it was slightly modified to include more detail around the edges and to make it look more menacing.
In 2004, this classic logo underwent another major redesign which is still used today by the University's athletic teams; however, there were some subtle changes made during this process such as adding color to create a better contrast between elements within the logo itself as well as making sure all parts were properly proportioned for maximum visual impact when viewed from any angle or distance away from the viewable area. The new version also included two stars above each paw representing both Northern California (where Cal is located) and Southern California (which includes Los Angeles).
Today, this updated version remains one of college sports' most recognizable logos due to its timelessness and ability to capture fans' attention whenever they see it displayed at sporting events or other places throughout campus life where school spirit can be found in abundance! It truly speaks volumes about what makes up true "Golden Bear" pride: loyalty towards your university no matter how many years pass by without change!
