Bison Primary Logo
The Bucknell Bison have a long and storied history of excellence in NCAA athletics, and their primary logo has been an integral part of that success. The current logo was unveiled in 2008, but its roots can be traced back to the early days of the school's existence.
In 1846, when Bucknell University was founded as Lewisburg Seminary by William Cammack (later changed to its present name), the school adopted a coat-of-arms with Latin words meaning “Truth is Stronger than Error” inscribed on it. This design would later become known as "the seal" and served as one of several symbols used by the university over time.
The first iteration of what we now know today as the Bucknell Bison Primary Logo emerged in 1955 when athletic director Paul Fenton decided to make some changes to his teams' uniforms; he chose a buffalo head for their new mascot image due to its strength and power associated with Native American culture at that time. The original version featured two crossed arrows behind it which were later replaced by two crossed swords creating more balance between them both visually & symbolically speaking - this also allowed for better integration into other logos/designs used throughout campus branding efforts moving forward!
In 1996, after 40 years without any major alterations being made, another update occurred whereupon modernizing elements such as sharpening up lines & adding depth were included while still preserving much from before: most notably keeping the same basic shape/formula so fans could easily recognize old vs new versions alike! Finally, around 2008 yet another revamp happened wherein even further refinements took place such that the final product looks very similar yet distinct enough compared to prior iterations making sure everyone knows they're seeing something fresh each year going forward too!
From humble beginnings all those years ago right through until today's modern look - there is no denying just how important this primary logo has been not only within Bucks Nation but also across the entire NCAA landscape itself; providing a strong sense of continuity amidst ever-changing times while simultaneously helping keep the spirit alive amongst students alumni alike whether cheering courtside or online from afar... Go Bison!!!
