Owls Primary Logo

The Temple Owls have a long and proud history, and their primary logo has been an integral part of that story. The iconic owl logo was first used in the late 1800s when the school adopted it as its official mascot. Since then, the design has evolved over time to reflect changing trends in sports logos while still remaining true to its roots.

The original version of this classic look featured a red-eyed owl perched atop a shield with three stars surrounding it. This version remained largely unchanged until 1967 when Temple University redesigned its athletics program from top to bottom, including updating its primary logo for all teams competing under the university’s name or initials (TU). This new iteration saw two owls facing each other on either side of an updated shield which now included five stars instead of three; this design is still used today by many teams across various sports programs at Temple University.

In recent years there have been subtle updates made to keep up with modern trends such as adjusting color tones and adding texture effects but overall not much else has changed with regard to how these owls are represented visually on uniforms or merchandise items associated with temple athletics programs. With more than 120 years' worth of history behind them, the temple owls' logos remain one the most recognizable designs among college sports fans around the world!
