Bobcats Primary Logo

The Ohio Bobcats have a long and storied history in NCAA sports, dating all the way back to 1896 when they first joined the Ohio Athletic Conference. Throughout their time as NCAA members, the Bobcats have had many different logos and mascots to represent them. Today we’re going to take a look at some of those logos from over the years, starting with their primary logo.

The current primary logo for The Ohio Bobcats is relatively new compared to some of its predecessors; it was introduced in 2011 after an extensive redesign process that included input from students, alumni, and fans alike. This design features two crossed tomahawks within a shield shape – representing strength and determination – along with three stars symbolizing excellence in both academic achievements as well as athletic success. The colors used are navy blue (representing loyalty) and white (symbolizing purity).

In addition to this modernized version of their original crest-style logo which dates back nearly 100 years ago when they were founded by John Wills Ruterbush in Athens County, OH., there have been several other iterations throughout their history including one featuring just “OHIO” across it without any imagery or symbols associated with it -this was used during much of mid-century period before being replaced by another more traditional looking crest style design which lasted until 2011 when today's version came about.

All these various versions over time serve not only as reminders of how far The Ohio University athletics program has come since its inception but also provide insight into what makes up its identity: strength through unity & dedication towards achieving greatness!
