Wolfpack Primary Logo
The North Carolina State Wolfpack primary logo has been a staple of the university’s athletics program since it was first introduced in 1972. The logo features a wolf head in profile, with its mouth open and eyes wide, surrounded by an oval shape. It is one of the most recognizable logos among college sports fans and is used on all official merchandise related to the Wolfpack.
The origin story behind this iconic symbol dates back to 1949 when NC State students voted for their mascot as part of their homecoming festivities that year. After much debate between various animals, including wolves, bears, and beavers, ultimately, wolves won out due to their fierce reputation, which resonated with students at the time who wanted an animal that would represent strength both on and off the field.
Since then, there have been some changes made over time, such as adding color or changing up shapes but overall, it remains true to its original design from nearly 50 years ago – a testament not only to how effective branding can be but also how timeless symbols like this can become integral parts of any organization’s identity throughout history!
