Broncos Primary Logo
The Western Michigan Broncos have a long and storied history in the NCAA, having been around since 1903. The school's primary logo has seen several iterations over the years, evolving to reflect changes in the university's identity. From its humble beginnings as a simple "W" to its current incarnation featuring an aggressive bronco head, this logo has become synonymous with WMU athletics.
The original Western Michigan Broncos logo was designed in 1930 and featured two bold letters: “WM” set inside of a shield shape that resembled an old-style football helmet. This design was used until 1967 when it was replaced by what is now known as their classic look—a brownish-golden colored bronco head staring off into space with his mane blowing back behind him; this version of the mascot served for nearly four decades before being retired at end of 2005 season due to copyright issues involving another school using similar imagery on their own uniforms.
In 2006, WMU unveiled its new primary mark which featured a more modernized version of its previous mascot but still kept all elements from earlier logos intact such as colors (brown/gold), lettering (WM), and overall shape (shield). The updated design also included additional details like stars surrounding the perimeter along with a white outline outlining the entire image giving it cleaner look than previous designs had lacked before making the transition to digital age era graphics capabilities allowed for higher levels of detail work to be done in smaller sizes without sacrificing quality or clarity visuals involved process creating these types images today so they can remain recognizable even when shrunk down very small sizes fit onto various products apparel items etcetera where the need arises to use them promotional purposes other marketing initiatives related brand building efforts universities departments organizations worldwide including here West Michigan University Athletics Department course!.
