Spartans Primary Logo
The San Jose State Spartans have a long and storied history in the NCAA, with their primary logo playing an integral part in that legacy. The current Spartan head logo has been used since 1989, but its roots can be traced back to the early 1950s when it was first introduced as a secondary mark. Since then, it has gone through several iterations and refinements to become one of college sports’ most iconic logos today.
The original design featured a cartoon-style Spartan warrior wearing armor on his chest while holding up two swords crossed over his head—a symbol of strength and courage that resonates with fans even today. In 1965, This image was updated by adding more detail to the helmet crest; this version also included an “SJSU” lettering underneath for added recognition among alumni and supporters alike.
In 1975, yet another revision took place which removed some details from the previous iteration such as removing all text elements except for “SJSU” at the bottom center along with making minor adjustments like sharpening edges or improving shading effects around certain areas within the design itself; additionally, new color scheme consisting primarily blue tones were implemented during this time period too (which is still being used). Finally, after 14 years had passed without major changes being made overall look & feel got refreshed once again in 1989 when many aspects including shape/size/proportions were altered slightly so they could better fit into modern standards while keeping the classic style intact—resulting in what we know now as official SJSU Spartans Primary Logo!
Throughout decades various versions have come & gone but the core concept remains the same: strong courageous figure ready to fight any battle no matter how difficult the situation may seem…this spirit continues to live on through generations inspiring the next generation to strive for greatness both academically and athletically just like great warriors before them!
