Gaels Primary Logo

The Saint Mary’s Gaels have a long and storied history, dating back to the late 1800s. The school's primary logo has evolved over time, but its core elements remain consistent. From the Gaelic cross to the shield featuring a red-and-blue color scheme and an Irish harp at its center, these symbols are beloved by students and alumni alike.

The current version of the logo was designed in 1995 as part of an effort to update all university branding materials with more modern designs that better reflected Saint Mary’s values and identity. It features a simplified outline of two crossed swords behind an outlined shield containing three stars on either side – each representing one virtue: faith, hope, charity; wisdom; courage; justice; temperance/moderation (which were also adopted from earlier versions). Additionally, there is now only one central star above which symbolizes excellence or achievement – another key value for St Mary’s University community members strives for every day!

In addition to being used on merchandise such as hats or t-shirts, it can be seen everywhere around campus including buildings like Morrissey Hall where our student-athletes compete during NCAA Division I basketball games throughout March Madness season! This iconic design not only serves as a reminder about what makes us unique but also helps bring people together under shared values no matter their background or beliefs - something we could all use more often in today's world!
