Huskies Primary Logo
Since the inception of Northern Illinois University in 1895, the Huskies have been a staple in collegiate athletics. With their long and storied history, it's no surprise that they've had some iconic logos over the years. Today we're taking a look at how their primary logo has evolved throughout time!
The first iteration of what would become known as "the Huskie" was created back in 1945 when NIU officially adopted its mascot name from an earlier school nickname - The Profs or Professors. This original design featured a cartoon-style husky wearing glasses with one paw raised and holding an open book between his teeth – representing the knowledge and education for which NIU is well-known today.
The next major change to this logo came about 15 years later when it was modernized to feature more realistic features like fur texture, sharper eyes, larger ears, and even whiskers! This new version became popular quickly among fans who embraced its more serious demeanor while still maintaining some of the fun traits from before such as those signature glasses on top (which were also changed slightly).
By the 1990s another update took place: this time featuring a much sleeker husky with shorter fur but still keeping those recognizable elements like glasses intact; however, now they were placed on either side instead of above him/her head giving them more balance visually speaking. In addition to these changes, other minor modifications included adding additional colors into the mix (red & black) along with making sure all lines were consistent throughout each element so everything looked cohesive together overall– something that continues today too!
Today’s primary logo remains largely unchanged since then but there have been small updates made here & there including updating certain aspects such as shading/highlighting details or changing up font styles used within text elements etc… All these slight alterations help keep things fresh yet familiar enough so fans can easily recognize them without any confusion whatsoever– something that will undoubtedly remain true going forward too!
