Bears Primary Logo
The Northern Colorado Bears have a rich history and their primary logo has been part of that since the team's inception. The original design, which was unveiled in 1923, featured a bear head surrounded by an oval shape. This symbolized strength and power for the school as well as its athletic program.
In 1948, the logo changed to feature a more modern look with two bears facing each other inside of an oval shape with "Northern Colorado" written across it in block letters. This version of the logo remained unchanged until 1997 when it received minor updates such as changing from black-and-white to full color and adding shading around the edges of both bears' heads for added detail.
Throughout its history, Northern Colorado's primary logos have always stayed true to its core values: Strength through unity; Loyalty; Respect; Excellence; Integrity & Sportsmanship – all qualities that make up what make this university great! From 1923 until now these symbols represent not only what we are today but also our past successes on the field or court while inspiring us toward future victories!
