Bears Primary Logo
The Missouri State Bears are a proud member of the NCAA Division I and have had a long history with their primary logo. The original logo, which was introduced in 1931, featured an image of a bear wearing a shield over its chest that contained the letters “MSU”. This design remained unchanged until 1967 when it was updated to include two stars above the bear’s head and an additional star on each side of the shield. In 1978, another update saw three stars added to either side of the shield as well as new font for both “Missouri State” and “Bears” text at the top and bottom respectively.
In 2002, yet another redesign brought about more changes including replacing all previous versions with one featuring only one star above its head; removing any text from inside or outside of it; adding five stripes across its chest (which represent each school division); changing some color elements such as yellow background instead blue; plus using the modernized font for wordmark at bottom part below animal figurehead itself. This version is still used today by university athletics teams during games & other events where they proudly display their mascot's face on various items like jerseys & hats or banners around campus grounds etc.
Throughout these numerous updates over time, there has been one constant: The Bear remains a true symbol that represents Missouri State University's spirit & pride - something we can all be proud of! It is also important to note that while this iconic emblem may have changed slightly through the years, the overall meaning behind it has stayed the same since the day first created back in 1931: A representation of strength perseverance courage .....and most importantly loyalty to our beloved alma mater!
