Aggies Primary Logo
The Texas A&M Aggies have a long and proud history, beginning in 1876 when the school was founded as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas. Through its storied past, one constant has been its iconic logo. The primary logo for the Aggies is an interlocking “ATM” design featuring two maroon-colored letters with a white outline that intersects at their center point. This classic symbol has been used by generations of students to represent pride in their school and team spirit on game day!
The original version of this logo was created in 1912 by former student George Bunn Jr., who graduated from A&M three years earlier. He drew inspiration from his alma mater's initials to create what would become an enduring image for centuries to come: two large maroon letters representing "A" (for agriculture) and "T" (for mechanical), linked together at their centers with a thin white line forming an interlocked “ATM” shape. In addition, he included four smaller stars around each letter – symbolizing loyalty among students – which are still present today on many versions of the emblematic design!
Today, variations on Bunn's original concept can be seen everywhere throughout campus; it appears prominently on university merchandise such as t-shirts or hats sold both locally or online stores like Fanatics or Amazon Prime Wardrobe Apparel & Accessories Storefronts; it also adorns buildings across campus including Kyle Field Stadium where thousands gather every fall Saturday during football season wearing proudly displaying this timeless mark - all paying homage to its creator whose vision continues live through these symbols more than 100 years later!
