Longhorns Primary Logo
The Texas Longhorns' primary logo history dates back to the late 19th century when they were first established as a college football team. The original logo was a simple black-and-white silhouette of a longhorn steer head with no other design elements or text. This design has been used on various merchandise and apparel throughout the years, but it wasn’t until 1964 that the iconic orange-and-white “Longhorn” logo was introduced.
The new version featured an orange background with two large white horns extending from either side of its head, creating an impressive image for fans to identify with their beloved team. It also included bold lettering spelling out “Texas Longhorns” in all caps underneath the horns, making it even more recognizable among supporters everywhere. Since then, this particular look has become synonymous with UT athletics and is one of the most popular logos in all of the sports today.
Today's modern version still features many aspects of its predecessor such as bright colors and strong lettering; however, there have been some slight tweaks over time including adding small details like stars around its border or adjusting font sizes for better balance across different mediums such as t-shirts or banners at sporting events. Though minor changes may have occurred throughout history, one thing remains constant: The Texas Longhorns' primary logo will always be recognized by fans worldwide who proudly wear it on their chests each game day!

This logo is regarded as the Royal Longhorn logo.
Darrell Royal asked sporting-goods merchant William "Rooster" Andrews to design a team logo. He gave Royal a crayon drawing of a longhorn logo and that was it.
