Ospreys Primary Logo

The North Florida Ospreys have a long and proud history of athletic excellence. From its inception in 1982, the school has been known for its strong tradition of sportsmanship and competition. As part of that legacy, the school's logo has evolved over time to reflect its values and ambitions as an institution.

Since 1982, the primary logo for the North Florida Ospreys has featured a stylized osprey perched atop a shield-shaped crest with wings spread wide above it. The original design was created by local artist Mark Sexton who wanted to capture both strength and agility in his creation – two qualities that he felt were emblematic of what it meant to be an Osprey athlete at UNF!

In 1997, this classic design underwent some minor modifications when UNF adopted new colors (blue & gray) along with updated graphics elements such as fonts & typefaces used on uniforms & other apparel items associated with athletics teams at North Florida University. These changes helped create a more modern look while still maintaining respect towards traditional elements found within previous versions like shields/crests or even lettering styles used throughout different eras since then!

The most recent update came about in 2014 when UNF decided they wanted their osprey mascot represented differently than before; so they hired renowned graphic designer Johnathan McAllister who completely redesigned everything from scratch including adding details like feathers around edges plus subtle shading techniques giving overall image much-needed depth without taking away any power that comes from boldness seen on previous iterations over years prior!

Today’s version features vibrant blue hues combined together seamlessly creating one cohesive unit making sure no matter where you see this symbol whether online or offline there will always be unmistakable recognition associated directly back toward home base: the University Of North Florida Athletics Department proudly carrying torch passed down through generations before them all way up until now - keeping the spirit alive forevermore!!
