Bobcats Primary Logo

The Texas State Bobcats have a long and proud history in the NCAA, and their primary logo has been part of that for many years. The original logo was designed in 1957 by former head coach Homer Norton, who had just taken over the program from its first coach, J.C. Matthews. The design featured a cartoon-style bobcat wearing an orange baseball cap with “Texas State” written across it on a white background surrounded by four stars representing each of the school's home states: Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Since then there have been various iterations of this same basic design but all featuring some variation on these core elements - including modern versions which feature more realistic illustrations as well as different color schemes to represent different sports teams within the university (the football team is represented by black & gold). In 2019 however, things changed dramatically when new athletic director Larry Teis unveiled an entirely new look for both men's and women's athletics at Texas state - one that included updated logos for all teams which were much bolder than previous designs while still retaining elements from past eras such as stars around them or stylized lettering spelling out "Bobcats."

At its heart, though this newest version remains true to what made up those initial designs; namely strength through unity between schools within our great state coupled with fierce determination no matter what challenge may come our way! We are proud to be Bobcats here at TXST – Go Cats Go!
