Rams Primary Logo

The Rhode Island Rams are a college sports team that represents the University of Rhode Island. The Rams have been around since 1895 and throughout their history, they’ve had many different logos and designs. Today, we’re going to take a look at the primary logo history of the Rhode Island Rams!

The first logo for the Ram was introduced in 1923 when URI joined what is now known as Division I athletics. This original design featured an illustration of a ram with its head facing forward while wearing an athletic jersey featuring two stripes on its chest area with “URI” written across it in block letters. This classic design lasted until 1968 when it was replaced by another simple yet effective logo depicting two rams facing each other while standing atop four stars representing each corner state – Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and Vermont – which make up New England where URI is located geographically speaking.

In 1992-93 season saw another change to this iconic brand as they unveiled their current primary mark: A stylized ram head with horns pointed upward set against a blue circle containing white trim along its outer edge topped off by three red stars above it all set within white background field shaped like shield or crest shape symbolizing strength & protection from harm or danger; all elements together represent power & pride associated w/Rhode Islansd's athletic programs over past 100+ years!

In addition to these main logos, there have also been several others used throughout time such as one featuring just the letter R inside a diamond shape surrounded by the words "Rams" below (used between the mid-1980s thru late 1990s) plus more recent additions such as 2014's version combining traditional elements previously seen but modernizing them slightly giving the overall image more contemporary feel - including updated font typeface choice (Gotham Bold).

Overall though no matter how much things may change one thing remains the same: The spirit behind every iteration has always stayed true to core values the university strives to uphold - excellence both on off-field success and dedication hard work determination will continue to be the cornerstone of any future iterations come down the line too!
