Crimson Primary Logo
The Harvard Crimson is one of the most iconic college sports teams in the United States, and its primary logo has a long history that dates back to 1875. The original design featured two crossed swords with an open book between them, representing knowledge and power. This symbol was used until 1911 when it was replaced by a shield-like crest featuring three books on top of each other with an "H" for Harvard at the center.
This new logo lasted until 1984 when it underwent some changes as part of a rebranding effort by then-athletic director Bill Flynn. The current version features two large crimson banners surrounding an interlocking “H” and “C” which stands for Harvard Crimson – both letters are also contained within a white circle outlined in crimson red.
The updated visual identity has been well received over time due to its modern look while still maintaining traditional elements like colors associated with school pride (crimson). It is now widely recognized as one of the most recognizable logos among NCAA Division I schools across America, making appearances on everything from apparel to merchandise items like mugs or hats!
