The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a long and storied history, dating back to 1885 when the university was founded. The primary logo of this esteemed institution has seen many changes over the years, but its core elements remain largely unchanged. The original design for the logo dates back to 1895 when it featured a yellow jacket bee encircled by two concentric circles with "Georgia School Of Technology" written in bold lettering along its outer edge. Over time, minor modifications were made, such as changing out some of the text or adding small details like stars or stripes to give it more character and personality. In 1952, however, major alterations were made, which included removing all text from within both circles while also replacing them with interlocking GTs that represented both “Georgia” and “Tech” simultaneously; this version remains virtually untouched today save for color variations depending on context or application type (i.e., black & white vs full-color).
