Roadrunners Primary Logo

The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners have been around for over 50 years, and in that time they’ve gone through a few iterations of their primary logo. The school has always taken pride in its athletic teams, so it comes as no surprise that the logos have evolved to reflect the changing times.

In 1965, when CSUB was first founded as California State College at Bakersfield (CSCB), their original logo featured an image of a roadrunner with wings spread wide and head pointed forward – symbolic of progress. This design stayed largely unchanged until 1978 when CSCB became known as California State University at Bakersfield (CSUB). At this point, the school decided to update its look by introducing colors into its existing roadrunner design: navy blue and gold were chosen to represent strength and excellence respectively.
This new version remained relatively untouched until 2003 when CSUB changed its name yet again; this time becoming Cal State Bakersfield or “CSU-B” for short. To go along with the new moniker came another updated logo featuring more vibrant colors such as reds, oranges, and yellows mixed in with blues & golds - creating an electric effect meant to capture attention from afar!

In 2015 however things took yet another turn after longtime athletics director Ken Swisher retired from his post; he wanted something fresh & modern but still reflective of what had come before him - thus we got our current iteration which is a slightly tweaked version based on previous designs but now includes a full body shot instead of just wings/head like before! This latest change also brought about some subtle changes including smoother edges on certain elements plus shading techniques used throughout giving it an all-around cleaner feel than ever seen previously... making sure everyone knows whose team they're rooting for whenever there's game-day action happening anywhere near Kern County area!
