Tennessee Oilers Logo and Transitional NFL History
The Tennessee Oilers history began when the team relocated from Houston but hadn’t yet rebranded. During this time, they played in Memphis and later Nashville. The logo remained the same: a red, white, and blue derrick. It stood as a proud reminder of the team’s legacy. You can view rare designs in our NFL Logo History archive.
Though the name didn’t last, the Oilers logo NFL fans remember is still iconic. Many associate it with grit, tradition, and Southern football roots. The Oilers logo football era officially ended in 1999 when the team became the Tennessee Titans. However, the Oilers’ branding is still celebrated in throwback gear and retro uniforms.
