Jets Wordmark Logo
The New York Jets have a long and storied history, dating back to their inception in 1960. Over the years, they have had several logos representing the team’s identity. The most recognizable is the iconic wordmark logo featuring “JETS” written in bold capital letters against a white background with green trimming around each letter. This logo has been used by fans and media alike as an instantly recognizable symbol of pride for those who support this NFL franchise from New York City.
The original version of this design was created by designer Mike Lester in 1963 when he was tasked with creating a new look for the team following its move to Shea Stadium from Titans Stadium two years prior. He opted for something simple yet powerful that could be seen across fields but also worked well on merchandise such as t-shirts or hats without being too complicated or busy looking. His idea worked perfectly, becoming one of the sports' most beloved logos over time and standing out among other teams' designs due to its simplicity yet the strength it conveys through its boldness alone!
While some minor changes have been made over time (such as changing fonts), overall, it remains unchanged since Lester first designed it nearly sixty years ago. A testament not only to his genius but also to how much people love this classic look even after all these decades later! It's no wonder, so many Jets fans proudly wear apparel featuring their beloved wordmark logo; nothing says "Gang Green" like seeing those four big letters on display wherever you go!
