Buccaneers Alternate Logo
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a long and storied history regarding their alternate logos. The first logo was created in 1976, featuring an orange pirate head with crossed swords. This logo was used until 1997 when the team unveiled its new “Bucco Bruce” mascot design. Bucco Bruce is a muscular pirate wearing red shorts and wielding two cutlasses while sporting an eye patch and bandana on his head. Since then, this logo has been used as the team’s primary, secondary mark. However, there have been several variations over the years that feature different colors or minor changes to the design elements of Bucco Bruce himself.
In 2014, however, things changed drastically for Bucs fans as they unveiled what would become one of their most beloved alternate logos: The Skull & Swords Logo featuring a fierce skull surrounded by crossed swords set against a black background with bright orange accents throughout – this has since become known among fans simply as “the flag” due to its resemblance to Florida's state flag at times! Although this design wasn't officially adopted by NFL teams until 2020 (as part of Nike's new "Color Rush" uniforms), many Bucs faithful proudly displayed merchandise featuring this iconic image well before that time – making sure everyone knew who they represented on game day!
Finally, in 2018, yet another variation made its debut: A more modern take on Bucco Bruce which features him standing upright instead of crouching down as he did previously - along with some other minor tweaks such as changing up his clothing color scheme from red/yellow/black stripes into solid black pants plus adding some additional gold accents around him for added flair! While not quite reaching the same level of popularity amongst fans compared to either previous versions mentioned here (or even just plain old regular buccaneers helmets) - these subtle updates still managed to make plenty enough noise within the Tampa Bay community nonetheless, giving them yet another way show off pride during any given Sunday out there!
