Chargers Wordmark Logo
The San Diego Chargers have had a long and storied history in the National Football League (NFL). The team was founded in 1960 and has been one of the most successful franchises since then. One of the most recognizable symbols associated with this franchise is its wordmark logo, which has gone through several iterations over time.
The first iteration of the Chargers' wordmark logo was unveiled when they joined the American Football League (AFL) in 1960. This version featured bold black letters set against a yellow background, with blue trim around it to create an eye-catching design. As time passed, minor changes were made to this original design, such as changing from block lettering to script lettering or adding additional colors like red and white for more visual interest.
In 2007, after much anticipation from fans all across America, a brand new version of their classic wordmark logo was revealed by San Diego Chargers’ ownership group at that year's NFL draft event: A sleek silver shield featuring lightning bolts emanating outwards along with “San Diego” written above it in capitalized font while “Chargers” appeared below also written out entirely but slightly smaller than its predecessor before being surrounded by an electric blue border line completing its look overall - making sure everyone knew exactly who they represented no matter where they played football each season! It remains today as one of the professional sports' iconic logos, representing strength & power combined perfectly within every game day experience both home & away for years ahead!
