The capitals logo history began when the Baltimore Bullets became the capitals basketball team in 1973. First, the Capital Bullets logo featured a blue “Bullets” wordmark with “L”s as hands grabbing a red basketball. Then, a 1974 redesign kept the style since fans loved its grit.
