Clippers Wordmark Logo
The Los Angeles Clippers have been a part of the National Basketball Association since 1970. The team has gone through several changes over the years, including its logo and wordmark. The current logo and wordmark were introduced in 2015, but they are rooted in history that dates back to their inception as the Buffalo Braves in 1970.
The original Buffalo Braves logo featured an image of a Native American brave set against an orange sunburst background with “Braves” written above it in white letters outlined by black trimming. When the team moved to San Diego and changed its name to Clippers for the 1979-1984 season, they kept this same design but replaced "Braves" with "Clippers". In 1984 when Donald Sterling bought them he decided on a new look -a blue shield featuring three red stars representing California's state flag surrounded by white lettering spelling out “Los Angeles Clippers” along with two basketballs on either side forming arrows pointing towards each other at the top center of the shield. This was used until 2011 when they switched again; this time using navy blue stripes around the bottom half of the shield while keeping all other elements intact except adding a silver lining around the inner edge which gave a more modern feel.
For the 2015 season, the clippers unveiled yet another updated version which features larger size font for the words LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS inside a navy blue circle along w/silver outline & 3 large stars from the previous iteration still present outside the perimeter; this is a an accompanied by 2 smaller versions placed on top & bottom center respectively; all these elements combined provide cohesive identity symbolizing strength & unity associated w/team both past&present. It also serves as a reminder that no matter how times change or where franchises may be located, the clipper spirit will always remain strong!
