Rockets Primary Logo
The San Diego Rockets were a professional basketball team based in San Diego, California. They played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1967 to 1971. During their four-year existence, they had three different primary logos that represented the team and its fans throughout this period of time.
The first logo was introduced when the franchise began playing during the 1967-68 season and featured an abstract design with a red rocket shooting up through a blue sky over orange mountains with “San Diego” written across it in white letters at an angle on top of everything else. This logo was used for two seasons before being replaced by another one prior to the 1969-70 season which featured more traditional elements such as a large red circle outlined by yellow stars around it containing both "SD" initials inside along with golden basketball below them all surrounded again by same orange mountains background from the previous version but without any text this time around instead using only color scheme variations to differentiate between two versions overall look wise.
Finally, during the 1970–71 campaign yet another redesign happened to feature the now familiar modernized rocketship silhouette centered within a thick black border consisting also of five stars above and below it while still keeping some original design cues like those surrounding mountain shapes seen once again here albeit slightly tweaked compared to earlier iterations making up entire composition altogether thus marking endpoint for these logos evolution cycle until today where they remain mostly unchanged since then save few minor details added later on after teams relocation out of San Diego itself back then too eventually becoming Houston Rockets as we know them today.
