Pelicans Alternate Logo
The New Orleans Pelicans have a long and storied history of alternate logos, spanning from the 2002-2003 season to today. The first logo was unveiled in 2002 as part of the team’s rebranding efforts following their relocation from Charlotte. This logo featured an image of a pelican with its wings spread wide, perched atop a basketball hoop with “New Orleans” written above it in bold lettering.
In 2013, the Pelicans released an updated version of their original alternate logo which featured a more stylized pelican holding onto either side of the basketball hoop while still keeping “New Orleans” prominently displayed at the top. This new design also included two stars on either side representing Louisiana's state flag colors—red and blue—and giving this already iconic symbol even greater meaning for fans all over Louisiana who proudly embraced it as their own personal mascot or talisman during games both home and away throughout that season up until today.
Today, many versions exist including special edition jerseys featuring unique designs such as Mardi Gras beads around its neck or other playful elements like fleur de lis patterns along its wingspan that honor New Orleanian culture through artful expression rather than simply replicating what is already out there on merchandise shelves everywhere else across America (or world). No matter how you look at it though one thing remains clear: The Pelican has become synonymous with not only being one half (if not entire) soul behind New Orleanians' unwavering passion for sports but also serves to remind us all why we love this city so much - because no matter where we are geographically located our hearts will always remain firmly rooted within her vibrant streets!
