Colts Primary Logo
The Baltimore Colts' primary logo is one of the most recognizable logos in professional sports. The iconic horseshoe-shaped design has been a part of the team’s identity since its inception in 1953. Over the years, it has undergone several iterations and modifications to reflect organizational changes and keep up with modern trends.
The original version was designed by then-owner Carroll Rosenbloom, who wanted something representing strength and power while still being simple enough for fans to recognize from afar. This first iteration featured a white outline surrounding two blue horseshoes with yellow stars inside them; this symbolized both luck and victory on behalf of their players as well as loyalty towards their city – Baltimore itself is known for its horse racing culture at that time period.
In 1984, after nearly three decades bearing this exact logo, it underwent a significant transformation when new owner Robert Irsay decided he wanted something more contemporary yet still reflective of traditional values associated with football teams, such as courage & tenacity - thus creating what we now know today: an orange shield surrounded by royal blue featuring two crossed swords above which sits another smaller shield containing four five-pointed stars representing each NFL championship won by Baltimore during those years (1958–1959). These colors were chosen specifically because they are seen across many different cultures & nations worldwide - signifying unity amongst all fans regardless of where they come from or how long they have supported the team!
