Charlotte Hornets
The new Hornets logo utilizes the purple and teal color palette and features an aggressive looking hornet that is ready to attack. Its piercing eyes, raised antennae, expanded wings and pointed stinger depict its relentless intensity. Incorporated within the logo is a basketball that doubles as the hornet’s body. The logo contains several odes to that of the original Hornets with its white wings, white accents within its eyes, a stinger and the inclusion of a basketball. A wordmark “CHARLOTTE HORNETS” in white.
Hornets Wordmark Logo
The Charlotte Hornets are a professional basketball team based in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have been part of the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 1988 and have become an iconic franchise in the NBA. The history of their wordmark logo is as unique and colorful as their team's story itself.
The original Charlotte Hornets’ logo was designed by designer George Tscherny for owner George Shinn back in 1989 when the expansion franchise began playing its first season with four other teams that were added to create what is now known today as “the modern era” of NBA basketball. It featured a cartoon-like hornet with large eyes, which gave it a friendly feel that appealed to children who were likely fans at this time period due to Michael Jordan had joined the Bulls earlier that year. This design would remain until 2002 when then-owner Ray Wooldridge opted for something more contemporary and aggressive looking; thus introducing us to our current wordmark logo featuring an angry hornet head inside an orange circle with black trimming all around it along with two white stripes on either side representing wings or antennae depending on how you look at them!
Today, this classic yet modernized version continues being used by both players and fans alike while also paying homage to its predecessor - showing just how much impact one small change can make over time! From its humble beginnings created nearly 30 years ago up until the present day; The Charlotte Hornets' Wordmark Logo has stood strong through thick & thin - becoming one of many symbols synonymous not only within sports culture but throughout popular culture too!
