Washington FT Wordmark Logo

The Washington Football Team wordmark logo has a long and storied history. It was first introduced in 1961, when the team was founded as the Washington Redskins. At that time, it featured an American Indian head profile with feathers on either side of his face and a single feather extending from behind him. This design remained largely unchanged for nearly 30 years until 1991 when it was replaced by an updated version featuring two feathers instead of one and more intricate detailing around the edges of the logo.

In 2020, after much controversy surrounding its name change from “Redskins” to “Washington Football Team” due to its offensive nature towards Native Americans, there were calls for a new logo design as well. In response to this pressure, owner Dan Snyder commissioned Nike designer Todd Van Horne in July 2020 to create a new look for their brand identity moving forward which resulted in their current wordmark logo being unveiled later that year on August 14th — just days before they opened up training camp at FedEx Field ahead of their first season under this new moniker since 1933!

This latest iteration features bold lettering with strong lines running through each letter giving off an intimidating yet powerful vibe while also paying homage to traditional military insignia seen throughout our nation's capital city - something fans can be proud about! The burgundy-on-yellow color scheme is still present but now incorporates black accents along with white outlining making it stand out even more than before against any background or apparel item you may put it next too; truly embodying what "Washington" stands for across all NFL teams today: strength & courage no matter what challenges come our way no matter how difficult they may seem at times!
