Since 2009 the Lions alternate logo is all about adding the team name to the primary logo. The font style for the blue "LIONS" wordmark from 2009 - 2016 has a very interesting look to it as if a lion had clawed the letters. The two older alternate logos from the '60s to the '80s are reminders of the automotive industry, so prevalent in Detroit.
