Pirates Primary Logo
The Pittsburgh Pirates have had a long and storied history in professional football. The team was founded in 1933 as the Pittsburgh Pirates, and since then, they have been one of the most successful franchises in NFL history. Over the years, their primary logo has undergone several changes to reflect their ever-evolving identity.
The earliest version of the logo featured an old-fashioned pirate ship sailing across a blue ocean with two crossed swords beneath it. This design remained unchanged until 1966, when it was replaced by an updated version that included a more modern-looking pirate ship with three sails instead of two, along with red accents around its edges to add flair. In 1976, this design was further modified by adding yellow stripes around each sail for additional contrast against the blue background color scheme that had become associated with Pirate’s logos over time.
In 1997 another significant change occurred when they released an all-new logo featuring a skull wearing what appears to be either sunglasses or an eye patch alongside four crossed swords underneath him/her (it is unclear whether this character is male or female). This particular redesign also saw them switch from navy and gold colors to black and gold, now widely recognized as being synonymous with Pittsburgh sports teams such as Steelers Football Team & Penguins Hockey Team! While there may be some debate amongst fans about which iteration of their iconic symbol best represents them today, one thing remains certain: The Pirates will always remain loyal pirates at heart no matter how much times change!
