Lakers Alternate Logo
The Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the most successful and iconic franchises in all of the professional sports for decades. As such, they have had a number of different logos over the years that reflect their history and successes. The first logo used by the Lakers was an interlocking “LA” which was introduced when they moved from Minneapolis to Los Angeles in 1960. This logo featured two basketballs forming an outline around the lettering with a yellow star above it representing their championship status at that time.
In 1972, this classic “LA” design was updated to incorporate purple into its color scheme as well as adding five stars above it to represent each NBA Championship won since moving to LA – something no other team had done before them at that point in time! In 1987, another update saw this same design become even more prominent with larger stars added alongside bolder lettering; however, these changes were short-lived due to fan feedback who preferred the original look better than anything else offered up until then (and still do!).
Finally, after almost 30 years without major alterations being made on any level – save for minor tweaks here or there -the Lakers unveiled yet another new alternate logo back in 2016 featuring only four stars but also including a silhouette image of legendary player Kobe Bryant dunking behind them! This modernized version has become incredibly popular among fans and is now seen everywhere from jerseys & t-shirts all across Laker Nation right down through official merchandise sold worldwide; further cementing its place within franchise lore forevermore!
