The final logo for the Rockets was a yellow and purple rocket dribbling a basketball over rocky mountains with a purple circle and a wordmark "DENVER ROCKETS" in purple.
Rockets Wordmark Logo
The Denver Rockets wordmark logo has been a part of the National Basketball Association since 1967. The team was founded by Bill Ringsby and Donnie Martin, two Colorado businessmen who wanted to bring professional basketball to Denver. The original logo featured an orange rocket with white lettering spelling out "Denver Rockets" inside a blue circle outlined in orange. This design remained until 1974 when it was replaced by an updated version featuring red and yellow colors instead of blue and orange, as well as more stylized lettering that emphasized the team's name rather than its location in Denver.
In 1975, the franchise changed its name from the Denver Rockets to become known simply as “the Nuggets” after their popular mascot at that time which was inspired by nearby gold mines found throughout Colorado during this period in history; however, they kept their iconic wordmark logo intact for another decade before eventually changing it again prior to moving into what is now known as Pepsi Center (formerly McNichols Arena) for their home games starting with 1985-86 season opener against Utah Jazz on October 31st, 1985.
During this time frame between 1975–1985, both versions were used interchangeably: the first one was more traditional looking while the latter had a modern twist added onto it due to lack of any major changes made other than a color palette swap (from red/yellow combo back into classic blue/orange). Despite all these alterations over the years though one thing remains the same – timelessness associated with such a simple yet effective design choice which still resonates today amongst fans old & new alike!
Today's iteration of Nuggets' official wordmark features a bolder font style alongside bright shades of blues & oranges set within a circular shape - paying homage not only to past iterations but also to the city itself considering how much pride people take living here amidst beautiful Rocky Mountains backdrop surrounding them every single day! No matter if you're a fan or just an admirer art form behind logos like these then chances are good will find something to appreciate about the legendary history behind the beloved emblem representing Mile High City’s very own NBA franchise called ‘Nuggets’
