Pacers Primary Logo

The Indiana Pacers' primary logo has gone through many iterations since the team’s inception in 1967. The original logo featured a cartoon-style basketball player, wearing a blue and white uniform with the word “Pacers” written across it. This look was used until 1974 when it was replaced by an orange and yellow design featuring two hands clasping around a basketball with the text “Indiana Pacers Basketball Club” beneath it.

In 1988, this classic design was altered to feature an abstracted version of Indiana's state flag as its centerpiece—a gold torch surrounded by stars on either side of its handle—with red stripes above and below that symbolized motion (as well as referencing both American patriotism and Hoosier pride). This new iteration served as their official primary logo for almost 30 years before being updated once again in 2017.

The current version features an updated take on this same iconic image; however, instead of using red lines to denote movement they have opted for light blue ones which are meant to represent speed while also giving off more modern vibes than its predecessor did. Additionally, rather than simply having "Indiana Pacers" written underneath like before there is now also space left open so that sponsors can be added if needed (which many teams do nowadays). All in all these changes have helped keep their brand relevant without straying too far from what made them successful over four decades ago!
