Clippers Alternate Logo

The Los Angeles Clippers are one of the most successful teams in the National Basketball Association, and their alternate logo history is an interesting story. The team’s original logo featured a white basketball with red and blue stripes that ran through it, which was used from 1984 until 2011. This classic design has become iconic over time and still remains popular among fans today.

In 2012, the team unveiled its first-ever alternate logo – a black-and-white silhouette of a Clipper ship sailing across waves beneath “Los Angeles Clippers” written in bold font above it. This new look was meant to pay homage to both LA's nautical past as well as its bright future ahead for basketball success. It also helped create more brand recognition for the franchise on a local level by tying itself back to LA's roots with this unique imagery choice.

Since then, two additional logos have been introduced: one featuring an updated version of their original 1984 design (with minor changes such as adding stars around its outline), while another feature two crossed swords behind a shield bearing four stars representing each decade since they moved from San Diego in 1984 - all encircled by “Los Angeles Clippers” text at the top center position. These alternative designs help give fans even more ways to identify themselves with their favorite team while showing off some creative flair too!
