Americans Wordmark Logo
The Brooklyn Americans were a professional ice hockey team that played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1925 to 1942. The team was based out of the borough of Brooklyn, New York, and had its home games at Madison Square Garden. The logo for the franchise was simple yet effective; it featured two crossed American flags with an eagle perched atop them and a banner reading “Brooklyn Americans” underneath. This iconic symbol has become synonymous with both hockey history as well as New York City lore.
The design originated when James Eagan, one of the original owners, wanted to create something that would represent his hometown proudly on a national stage during its inaugural season in the 1925-26 NHL season. He found inspiration from several sources: firstly he noticed how popular eagles were being used by other sports teams such as baseball's Philadelphia Athletics; secondly he looked into local symbols like those used by civic organizations or government institutions including police departments across America; finally he drew upon his own patriotism which is why two American flags are seen crossing each other at the center point with an eagle perched atop them - all three elements representing strength and power while also showing off pride for their countrymen back home in Brooklyn!
Over time this logo became more than just another graphic representation rather it stood out amongst others due to its unique combination of symbolism – not only did they want people outside NYC to recognize their presence but also wanted locals within city limits to know exactly where they hailed from too! It wasn't until 1940 though when minor changes began taking place: adding color (red & white), changing font size/style slightly so words could be read easier etcetera… All these adjustments helped make sure everyone knew who these brave men represented whenever they stepped onto any rink anywhere around the world!
