Hurricanes Wordmark Logo

The Carolina Hurricanes is an NHL hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The team has undergone many changes since it was first established in 1997, including its logo and wordmark. The Hurricanes’ current wordmark logo dates back to the 2006-07 season when the franchise underwent a significant rebranding effort.

The original design featured a bold red “C” with white trim and black outlining, representing strength and speed—two qualities associated with hurricane winds. Below the letter were two curved lines symbolizing wings, representing flight or movement of air currents within hurricanes and speed on ice for hockey players wearing the jersey bearing this logo design. This version of the Hurricanes’ wordmark remained unchanged until 2016, when minor tweaks were made to give it a more modern appeal while maintaining its classic look from the 2006-2007 season.

Today's updated version features an italicized font which gives off a more dynamic feel than before while also making sure not to lose any of its traditional elements, such as color scheme and winged lines underneath "C." Additionally, the colors have been brightened up slightly, giving them even greater visibility during gameplay or on merchandise items like jerseys, hats, etc. All these combined make for one powerful visual representation of what makes up this storied franchise - power, speed & resilience - all embodied by their iconic Word mark Logo.
