Maroons Alternate Logo
The Montreal Maroons have a long and storied history in the NHL, dating back to their inception in 1924. As one of the original six teams, they quickly became an iconic franchise with a unique identity that still resonates today. While their primary logo has remained relatively unchanged over time, there have been several alternate logos used throughout their history that reflect different eras and styles of hockey.
One of the most popular alternate logos for the Maroons was introduced during World War II when many teams adopted more militaristic designs to honor those who served overseas. The design featured two crossed sabers on top of a shield shape with "Montreal" written across it in bold lettering - representing both strength and patriotism at once. This logo would remain until 1948 when it was replaced by another classic look featuring two rings around an interlocking "M" symbolizing unity among players as well as fans alike.
In 1962, yet another redesign took place which saw them switch from red-and-white colors to blue-and-gold ones while also adding stripes along each side for added visual appeal - this version remains popular among collectors today due to its classic feel but modernized appearance compared to earlier iterations. During this same period, they also began using a circular crest-style logo featuring three stars above an outline map depicting Quebec province; although not officially recognized by NHL standards it is still seen occasionally on game day merchandise or fan apparel items like t-shirts & hats, etc...
Finally, in 1965, the team went through its final rebranding before merging with other franchises into what we now know as “The Canadiens.” This new look incorporated all elements from previous versions such as stripes, colors & symbols into one cohesive design – creating something truly memorable that could be easily identified even decades later! It's no wonder why so many people consider these retro designs some of the best ever created within professional sports leagues worldwide!
