Nationals Alternate Logo
The Washington Nationals have had a long and storied history of alternate logos. From the classic “W” logo to the more modern “Screech” design, these logos have been an integral part of the team's identity over its lifetime.
The original "W" logo was introduced in 2005 when the team moved from Montreal to Washington D.C., and it quickly became one of their most recognizable marks. The "W" is often seen on hats, shirts, jackets, and other apparel associated with Nationals fans all around the DC metro area - making it one of their most popular symbols ever created! Additionally, this same symbol has also been used as a patch on some players' uniforms during special occasions such as Opening Day or Playoffs games throughout its tenure with the Nats organization.
In 2012 another iconic mark was added to the National's visual identity: Screech - an eagle mascot that has become synonymous with DC sports teams like NFL Redskins or NHL Capitals (both use similar bird-themed mascots). This new emblem featured prominently on various merchandise items such as t-shirts, jerseys and baseball caps; but perhaps more importantly Screech helped create connections between teams in different leagues by having them wear similar designs for promotional purposes (e.g., wearing matching hats during playoff series). As time went by this image grew even stronger among supporters who now proudly display both old & new insignia together at games – showing off their loyalty towards the Nats franchise no matter what changes may come about!
