The original logo featured an orange circle with a devil ray inside it, along with blue lettering spelling out “Tampa Bay” at the top, particularly in relation to the Tampa Bay Rays Primary logo. This design was meant to represent both Florida's sunshine as well as its aquatic wildlife, which is why they chose a devil ray for their mascot. In 2008, this logo underwent some changes when they changed their color scheme from navy blue and orange to Columbia blue and yellow-gold; however, other than that minor alteration nothing else about it changed until 2012 when they added two palm trees on either side of the wordmark while keeping everything else intact.

In 2020 yet another slight change was made - this time adding black outlines around all elements within their primary mark including both palm trees & rays - making them stand out more against any background colors or textures used on merchandise or apparel featuring their branding identity system. This subtle adjustment helps bring attention back to what makes Tampa Bay unique: Its iconic aquatic wildlife & beautiful tropical scenery! With these few tweaks throughout history, the current Tampa bay Rays wordmark Logo stands strong today as an emblem representing not only baseball but also the local culture & pride that comes along with being part of such an amazing city!
