Royals Wordmark Logo

The Kansas City Royals have a long and storied history, which is reflected in their wordmark logo. The original Royals logo was adopted when the team moved to Kansas City in 1969. It featured an interlocking “KC” with a crown above it, set against a royal blue background. This design remained largely unchanged until 1993 when the font was changed slightly and two white stripes were added to the bottom of the crest-like shape.

In 2008, as part of an overall rebranding effort by Major League Baseball (MLB), all teams received new logos that featured more modern designs and fonts for their wordmarks – this included changes for both home jerseys as well as caps worn during away games. In keeping with its traditional look, however; The Royals maintained most of its original elements while updating them with contemporary styling; such as adding serifs on either side of each letter within “KC” along with subtle shading behind it that gives it more dimensionality than before. Additionally, the crown had been altered so that now appears somewhat flatter compared to what appeared in previous versions but still retains much of its regal essence from before.

Today, the current iteration has become iconic among fans who proudly wear apparel featuring this classic symbol around town or wherever they may travel; representing not only one's loyalty towards baseball but also civic pride in being part of such a great city like Kansas City where these beloved royals play ball!
