Whitecaps FC Primary Logo

The Vancouver Whitecaps FC Primary Logo has a long and storied history. It was first introduced in 1974 when the team joined the North American Soccer League (NASL). The logo featured an eagle, which symbolized strength and power, perched atop a soccer ball with “Whitecaps” written above it. This logo remained unchanged until 1983 when the NASL folded and the team moved to Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). At this time, they changed their logo to feature two crossed swords instead of an eagle as well as added "FC" after "Whitecaps."

In 2011, Vancouver Whitecaps FC unveiled its current primary logo ahead of joining Major League Soccer (MLS) for its inaugural season. This new design features a blue circle containing three white mountain peaks representing British Columbia's coastal mountains that surround Vancouver - also known as 'the three sisters'. Below this sits two wavy lines representing both waters from False Creek where BC Place Stadium is located and air currents created by nearby Grouse Mountain ski resort. Finally at the bottom is another blue circle featuring four sailboats in honor of Canada's maritime heritage; all surrounded by five stars signifying each province in Canada plus one additional star for honorific purposes - making six total stars!

Overall these elements combine to create an iconic image that represents not only a sport but also culture & geography unique to British Columbia & Canada alike!
