The original Seattle Sounders FC logo was designed by Peter O’Leary in 2007 when the team first joined MLS as an expansion franchise, alongside the Seattle Sounders FC Primary logo. It featured two overlapping “S” letters with a star above them to represent Sounders' status as an elite club within MLS. This design remained unchanged until 2018 when Adidas took over from Nike as their official kit supplier and decided to update the look for modern times while still keeping its classic identity intact.

In 2019, they released a new version that featured three stars instead of one, representing each title that had been won by Seattle during their time in MLS (2009 US Open Cup Champions; 2010 & 2011 Supporters Shield Winners). The colors were also updated from navy blue to bright green and rave green along with white accents for contrast against darker backgrounds like jerseys or fields where players play on match days. Additionally, there are subtle nods throughout this redesign paying homage to traditional Northwest Coast Native American art such as abstract shapes resembling thunderbird wings inside both ‘S’s - reflecting Seahawks heritage - plus small details like fish scales around each letterform's edges which allude back even further into local culture dating back centuries ago before Europeans arrived here at Puget Sound! Ultimately these changes help bring together past successes while providing something fresh and exciting that fans can rally behind moving forward into future seasons ahead!
