FC Cincinnati Wordmark Logo

FC Cincinnati is a professional soccer team located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The club's logo and wordmark have gone through several iterations since its founding in 2015. From the very beginning, FC Cincinnati has sought to pay homage to its city’s history while also creating a unique identity for itself as one of Major League Soccer’s newest teams.

The original FC Cincinnati logo was unveiled on August 12th, 2015 when the team was announced as an expansion franchise of the United Soccer League (USL). This first design featured two orange stars above an italicized “Cincinnati” text with black outlining that took inspiration from both traditional Americana imagery and classic European soccer logos. Additionally, it included two blue stripes on either side which were meant to represent rivers flowing through downtown Cincinnati - specifically referencing both the Ohio River and Little Miami River that run along either side of the town respectively.

In 2018 when FC Cincinnati joined Major League Soccer (MLS), they decided it was time for something new so they released their current wordmark logo featuring a bolder typeface than before with some slight adjustments made to emphasize certain elements such as adding more depth between each letter or making them appear slightly larger than before; all done without losing sight of what had become synonymous with their brand – namely those iconic blue stripes running down either side representing rivers flowing throughout their beloved city. All these changes helped create a recognizable symbol that could be seen anywhere around town from t-shirts & hats worn by fans during games or even on billboards advertising upcoming matches - helping further cement this club's place amongst other top-tier MLS franchises like LA Galaxy & New York City Football Club alike!
