Rapids Primary Logo
The Colorado Rapids have had a long history of logos, dating back to the team’s inception in 1996. The first logo was designed by graphic designer Tom O’Grady and featured an image of a mountain range with three white peaks on top of a navy blue background. This logo remained unchanged until 2001 when the team adopted its current primary logo design. This new design features two crossed pickaxes over an orange circle with “Colorado Rapids Soccer Club” written around it in black lettering.
The inspiration for this new look came from the mining industry that has been so important to Colorado since its founding as part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, particularly in relation to the Colorado Rapids Alternate logo. The pickaxes represent hard work and determination, while also paying tribute to those who mined for gold during Colorado's early days as well as modern-day miners who still work hard every day throughout our state today! Additionally, orange is used because it is believed to be associated with passion and energy which are both qualities that can be seen on display at any home game at Dick's Sporting Goods Park!
In 2019, there were minor changes made to this existing primary logo; these included adding more detail within each axe head along with making some slight modifications regarding font size & spacing around certain elements such as "Soccer Club". These small tweaks helped bring out even more character within what already was one great-looking crest! As time goes on we hope that these same principles remain true - respect tradition but always strive towards progress - something all fans can get behind no matter where they stand when cheering their beloved club onto victory each week!
